Lisbon reinforces commitment to universal access to information

To mark the International Day of Universal Access to Information, the municipality of Lisbon and the Open Government Partnership Local organized the webinar "Access to Information: the Cornerstone of Local Democracy and Inclusive Development" on October 1.

With a diverse panel of national and international speakers, the meeting brought together around 70 participants: Cecília Moreira, from CML, Jose Luis Ros-Medina, from OGP's Open Government Academic Network, and Leonor Gaspar Pinto, responsible for access to information at the municipality of Lisbon, who addressed the theme "Access to Information in Lisbon's Governance: from Strategy to Action", sharing the municipality's practices and challenges in promoting a transparent institutional culture.

The event ended with the panel "Access to Information: challenging legal frameworks and legal practices", allowing the sharing of experiences from OGP Local partner municipalities - Nandi County (Kenya), Córdoba Province (Argentina) and South Cotabato (Philippines).

Lisbon has been an official member of the Local OGP network since 2024. In this year's edition, the municipality is reinforcing its commitment to transparency, access to information and citizen participation in more inclusive and effective public policies.
