Family Health Units

Lisbon, SNS Nearest

In 2017, Lisbon City Council and the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Regional Health Administration signed a collaboration agreement to implement the “Lisbon, SNS Mais Próximo” (Lisbon, Closer to the National Health Service) program.

The program will benefit more than 305,000 users, through the construction of 14 Family Health Units in Lisbon, and the overall upgrading of primary health care infrastructures and equipment .

With the attribution of new competences to the municipalities in the area of Health, Lisbon City Council is responsible, among other matters, for:

  • participating in the planning, management and implementation of investments in new primary health care units, namely in their construction, equipment and maintenance;
  • managing, maintaining and conserving other primary health care equipment.
