Artistas Unidos have a new home in Marvila

Lisbon City Council today formalized the transfer of a space in Marvila to the Artistas Unidos theater company, founded in 1995 by actor and director Jorge Silva Melo. Programming is due to resume in October.

With the recent closure of the Teatro da Politécnica, the company once again found itself "without a work and performance space". The new space, in a municipal warehouse on Rua do Açúcar, can be adapted into two performance halls.

This infrastructure will allow the company to broaden its cultural offer, develop collaborations with other artistic entities and strengthen the city's cultural dynamics.

At the signing of the agreement, the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, stressed the importance of this award in "a city where culture is for everyone, is decentralized and is alive and kicking".
