Centenary procession celebrates the Solemnity of the Body of God
From the Patriarchal Cathedral, the starting and finishing point, the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, joined the thousands of people who took part in the procession, this year with a new route that included Praça do Município, Rua do Arsenal and Terreiro do Paço.

Presided over by the Patriarch of Lisbon, Rui Valério, this procession is "one of the city's oldest and most important religious traditions".
The Solemnity of the Body of God is normally celebrated 60 days after Easter. It was instituted by Pope Urban IV in 1264 and Portugal was one of the first countries to join. In Lisbon, this procession dates back to the reign of King João I (1385-1433).
