Jardim Campo de Ourique unites neighborhoods and enhances heritage
The work, which culminates a process of upgrading the exterior surfaces of the section of the Águas Livres Aqueduct, includes a walkway that allows pedestrians to cross and eliminates historic barriers between the areas. During the presentation event, the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, said that "this is a bridge with meaning", stressing the importance of the walkway as an element of integration and urban continuity.
The park, which includes a modern green space, is equipped with a kiosk, a children's garden and a dog park, designed to offer Lisbon residents a place to socialize, relax and boost urban life.
The site also has a strong historical anchor. The Campo de Ourique precinct is home to the Campo de Ourique Reservoir, a construction dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, built to ensure the efficiency of the city's water supply. This reservoir is a landmark of Lisbon's hydraulic heritage and reinforces the link between the history and modernity of the space.
The initiative is the result of collaboration between EPAL, Lisbon City Council and the Campo de Ourique Parish Council, in a joint effort to maintain the areas involved.
