Municipal executive led by Carlos Moedas takes office

Carlos Moedas was sworn in today as Mayor of Lisbon for the period 2025-2029. At this afternoon's ceremony, at the Alcântara Maritime Station, the municipal bodies were also installed: the Municipal Assembly and the City Council.


Carlos Moedas, in his second term as Mayor of Lisbon (CML), leads the municipal executive composed of 17 members, according to the following order of election, as a result of the ballot on October 12:

In his inauguration speech, Carlos Moedas announced the main measures in the areas of action of the executive that is now in office, and left "a commitment": "In the coming years, we want to be the World Capital of Social Justice, the World Capital of Innovation and the World Capital of Culture".

This "dream", he stressed, "must not only be Lisbon's, but our Metropolitan Area's".

After this afternoon's ceremony at the Alcântara Maritime Station, André Moz Caldas, from the Socialist Party, was elected president of the Lisbon Municipal Assembly (AML) at the first meeting of the 2025-2029 term.
