Municipality presents 2026 budget proposal

Gonçalo Reis, deputy mayor of Lisbon, today presented the proposed budget for 2026. The budget, of 1,345 million euros, is "balanced between income and expenditure", and "ensures the smooth running of CML, of companies, of all our entities, as of January 2026".

"It's very important that the City Council runs smoothly," said Gonçalo Reis, which is why the proposal will be voted on later this year and come into force in January. "There are great advantages in predictability and credibility, and in ensuring the smooth running of City Hall," he stressed.

The "cornerstone of this budget is a strong focus on investment", which is "growing at a rate of 30%". It is, he added, "an action-oriented budget", in our "priorities in Public Space, Housing, Mobility, Transport, Culture, Innovation and the modernization of services".

In 2026, the current tax rates will be maintained: 0% IRS (full refund); 0.3% IMI; 1.5% Surcharge.
