Passos Manuel School opens Academia Ponto Verde traveling exhibition

On National Sustainability Day, marked on September 25, Academia Ponto Verde visited Passos Manuel Primary and Secondary School in Lisbon and explained the whole recycling process to the students. The initiative will reach more than 200 schools across the country by the end of the year.

This project, run by Sociedade Ponto Verde, aims to promote packaging recycling and raise young people's awareness of the importance of waste separation, involving students and educators in environmental education activities at the start of the school year.

"The world doesn't change with people my age, but with you, who have innovative ideas and are open to new solutions," said the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, leaving a word of confidence in the potential of the younger generations to transform the future.

In Lisbon, from January to August this year, the packaging recycling rate increased by 6% compared to the same period last year. Food waste collection also rose by 4.2%, due to collection in more parishes, and green waste increased by 45%.

The Green Dot Academy, created in 2019, has already impacted more than 500,000 children and young people, and is one of the main players in promoting recycling in Portugal.
