Urban art takes Lisbon to the international podium

Lisbon is the third best city in the world for urban art in the Street Art Cities ranking , after Athens and Madrid. The distinction puts it ahead of cities like Berlin, London, New York and Paris.

According to the promoter, "the classification reflects the artistic quality, the diversity of the interventions and the cultural and community impact of urban art in the cities evaluated". The 2025 award took into account projects carried out over the last year.

Among the highlights is the Calypso mural, by Patrícia Mariano, in Bairro da Bela Flor, in Campolide. The work was created as part of the 6th edition of the MURO 2025 Festival, and came fifth in the Best Mural in the World category, out of hundreds of international entries.

For Lisbon City Council, this recognition "consolidates the municipal strategy of valuing public space through artistic creation and the involvement of local communities". The municipality also highlights the contribution of national and international artists who transform the city "into an open-air gallery, from the historic center to the outlying areas".

Urban art in Lisbon is also a factor in attracting tourists, with dedicated routes that cross several neighborhoods and include works by artists such as Vhils, Bordalo II and new creators from the contemporary scene, making it "a reference destination for lovers of urban art at an international level".

TheStreet Art Cities Awards are promoted by the Street Art Cities digital platform, considered the world's largest online community dedicated to urban art, bringing together artists, curators and the public.
