Wonderland Lisbon among the Best Christmas Markets in Europe

In its first appearance in this ranking, Wonderland Lisboa went straight onto the list of Europe's Best Christmas Markets. In its 10th edition, more than 1.2 million people visited the Christmas Market in Parque Eduardo VII.

Already awarded this year by travelers and tourism professionals as "the most beautiful and sunny Christmas Market in Europe", reports the website europeanbestdestinations, Wonderland Lisboa "stands out among festive Christmas destinations such as Seville, Barcelona, Madrid, Athens and Madeira".

This year, more than 803,000 travelers from 179 countries "voted and shared their passion" on social media to choose their favorite Christmas markets. Of the more than 1,500 Christmas markets that take place every year in Europe, "only 20 were awarded and crowned as the most beautiful, magical and authentic". The list includes Zurich, Vienna, Dresden, Lisbon and Paris, among others.

These 20 destinations, reads the publication, "won the votes of travelers, and generated hundreds of thousands of shares, likes and recommendations online, confirming their status as the most inspiring Christmas markets in Europe".

Supported since its first edition by Lisbon City Council, the event is "much more than just a Christmas market", with "a positive impact on the local economy and on tourism outside the high season", says the president of CML, Carlos Moedas.
