World record broken at Lisbon Half Marathon
In the men's race, Jacob Kiplimo stood out by winning with a time of 57:20 minutes and setting a new world record for the distance, improving on his previous best of 57:30 minutes by 10 seconds. Nicholas Kipkorir finished in second place with 58:08 minutes and Gilbert Kiprotich was third with 58:59 minutes.
In the women's race, Tsigie Gebreselama won again in Lisbon with a time of 1:04.48 hours. Janeth Chepngetich came second with a time of 1:06:50 and Regina Wambui rounded off the podium with a time of 1:07:10.
Among the Portuguese athletes, Samuel Barata and Mariana Machado were crowned national Half Marathon champions. Samuel Barata finished the race in 12th place overall, with a time of 1:00.36 hours, winning the men's national title. Rui Pinto, with 1:03:10 hours, and Duarte Gomes, with 1:03:22 hours, completed the national podium.
In the women's competition, Mariana Machado won the national title with a time of 1:10:10 hours. Susana Santos finished second among the Portuguese, with 1:11.34 hours, and Mónica Magalhães Silva was third, with 1:14:00 hours.
In addition to the main race, there was also the Vodafone 10k, both organized by the Maratona Clube de Portugal. With a timed distance of 10 km, the race once again brought together athletes and many participants who had the opportunity to cross the 25 de Abril Bridge on foot and take part in an official race, in an atmosphere of conviviality and relaxation.
