Presentation of the book "When the Body Makes It Sweet"
This book shows how sweets connect the sensory with religiosity, shaping sugar, almonds and eggs into forms that evoke the body and soul.
Published by the Museum of Lisbon, with texts by Paula Barata Dias and Cristina Oliveira Bastos, it tells how traditional Portuguese sweets, above all the work of women, unite body and spirit, sacred and profane.
