World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 and aims to increase visibility and discussion of the environmental cause. The date was chosen on the occasion of the Stockholm Conference, organized by the United Nations (UN) in 1972, which discussed the issue of human impact on the environment.
EPAL and Águas do Vale do Tejo are marking the occasion with another summer edition of Pátio da Água, under the theme "The preservation of glaciers", in line with the United Nations' motto for World Water Day 2025.
EPAL is offering the public the chance to enjoy plain or flavored tap water and a variety of activities for all ages. From June 5 to September 12, there will be various actions to raise environmental awareness among the general community and schoolchildren about efficient water management and the sustainable choice of consuming tap water.
The program includes concerts, cooking workshops, Water Tastings, "Water Talks" and Environmental Education actions.
