The city of São Vicente

Devotion to St. Vincent

Devotion to St. Vincent spread widely throughout the Christian world very early on. In 1173, the relics of this saint traveled to Lisbon, a newly conquered city.

This route follows the saint's entry into the city, passing through some areas of medieval Lisbon, from the vicinity of the city's oldest Jewish quarter, to the site of one of the Mozarabic quarters and, inside the walls, to the center of the Christian city.
