Riverside Mobility
Improvement requires change
The works underway in Lisbon are essential to prepare the city for future challenges in mobility, sanitation, and heritage
In progress:
- General Drainage Plan for Av. da Liberdade and Santa Apolónia;
- Expansion of the Metro Green Line;
These interventions will inevitably affect the city's accessibility system, particularly on Av. 24 de Julho and the Zona Ribeirinha.
Since August 21, 2023, vehicles over 3.5 tons (with the exception of Carris) have not been allowed to circulate on Ribeira das Naus Avenue.
Mobility in the riverside area
Conditions
Interruption to general traffic in the riverside area and Av. 24 de Julho, in both directions, between Av. Infante Santo and Av. Mouzinho de Albuquerque.
Use the detour on the 5th ring road: Av. Infante Santo ► Praça da Estrela ► Largo do Rato ► Rua Alexandre Herculano ► Rua do Conde de Redondo ► Av. Almirante Reis ► Praça do Chile ► Rua Morais Soares ► Praça Paiva Couceiro ► Av. Mouzinho de Albuquerque (in both directions).
Direction Parque das Nações / Algés
- Detour to Av. Mouzinho de Albuquerque towards the center, via 5ª Circular.
Direction Algés / Parque das Nações
- Detour to Av. Infante Santo towards the center, via the 5th ring road.
North / South direction
- Traffic coming from Av. da Liberdade: reversal at Rossio and return to Marquês de Pombal.
- Traffic coming from Av. Almirante Reis: reversal at Martim Moniz or Praça da Figueira / Rossio / Restauradores.
- Traffic coming from Príncipe Real: detour at Praça Luís de Camões, to Calçada do Combro / Estrela.
Other alternatives:
4th ring road: Av. Ceuta ► Av. Calouste Gulbenkian ► Av. Berna ► Av. João XXI ► Av. Afonso Costa ► Olaias ► Praça Paiva Couceiro ► Av. Mouzinho de Albuquerque (in both directions)
3rd Circular: Av. Ponte 25 de Abril ► Eixo Norte Sul ► Av. Forças Armadas ► Av. Estados Unidos da América ► Av. Marechal António Spínola (in both directions)
Road traffic in both directions between Av. Infante Santo and Av. Mouzinho de Albuquerque will be reserved for local traffic only.
Alternative routes to:
Cais do Sodré - In Algés or Alcântara, take Av. Brasília ► Rua Cintura do Porto de Lisboa.
Praça D. Luís I - At Largo de Santos, you can use the BUS corridor, which will be shared.
Rua da Esperança - Only accessible to residents and public transport.
