What's the point

Requalification and valorization of this degraded and forgotten territory

Strategic objectives

The Urbanization Plan's strategic objectives are to make the Santo António Valley

ecological, with a comprehensive and unifying green component;

accessible and inclusive, bringing its constituent neighborhoods closer together and introducing new mobility measures;

identifiable and livable, bringing together current and future residents around a community ecosystem;

resilient, focusing on economic, social and cultural vectors.

In order to achieve these strategic objectives, the Plan aims to shape the following specific objectives:

implementing an urban solution that is better adapted to the territory's natural topography, with a consequent reduction in urbanization and construction costs;

review the density of occupation, with a reduction in building capacity, in order to ensure an adequate transition with the surrounding volumes in relation to the consolidated areas;

promote continuity between the built-up areas and the urban park area, by dissolving/fragmenting the built-up areas over the valley areas, and by including garden areas (roofs, terraces, balconies, façades) in the new buildings;

ensure the principle of multifunctionality in the built-up areas associated with the urban park, thus promoting permanent use of the park at various times of the day;

complement the building areas intended for the various uses by extending the respective activities into the urban park area, providing them with a place of confluence and centrality in this public space;

ensure the predominance of residential use and the establishment of complementary uses to the residential function, annulling the intention to install a large shopping center in this territory;

create a network of local facilities;

implement new mobility solutions, including the creation of a network of pedestrian and cycling routes to optimize the connection between the different urban areas;

evaluate the suitability of parking parameters, taking into account the mobility policy to be implemented.
