CARRIS offers alternative transportation to Lisbon's Ascensores

As of September 12, CARRIS will make the 51 E circular route available to "respond to the suspension of the Ascensor da Glória". Route 22 B will, in turn, operate as an alternative to the Ascensor da Bica.

Update: from the 14th, route 19 B will have new stops and routes while the Lavra elevator is out of service.

The new route 51 E will run daily between 7 a.m. and 9.30 p.m. to replace the Ascensor da Glória, says the municipal company, and will take the following route:

Restauradores - Rossio - Rua do Ouro - Rua da Conceição - Rua Nova do Almada - Rua Garrett - Calçada do Sacramento - Largo do Carmo - Largo da Trindade - Rua da Misericórdia - Rua das Taipas - Avenida da Liberdade - Restauradores.

While the Ascensor da Bica is closed, CARRIS adds, it is recommended to use route 22 B "Cais Sodré - Príncipe Real circulation", which connects Rua de São Paulo to Largo do Calhariz. This route operates every day between 7:00 and 20:30.

From September 14 (Sunday), to facilitate mobility between Rua do Câmara Pestana/Torel and Largo da Anunciada/Avenida da Liberdade, the route and stops of route 19 B will be adjusted, as an alternative to the Ascensor do Lavra:

Campo Mártires da Pátria - Praça da Alegria - Av. da Liberdade - Restauradores - Av. da Liberdade - Rua das Pretas - Rua do Telhal - Calçada Moinho de Vento - Campo Mártires da Pátria - Travessa do Torel - Travessa do Forno do Torel - Rua do Câmara Pestana (top of Lavra) - Rua do Instituto Bacteriológico - Campo Mártires da Pátria.

The 19 B will be open on weekdays from 7.30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on weekends and public holidays from 10 a.m. to 8.30 p.m.
