Exhibition in Lisbon reveals Sá Carneiro's unpublished estate
The initiative, supported by Lisbon City Council, presents unpublished documents belonging to the Ephemera Archive, and covers the public life of the former prime minister, Francisco Sá Carneiro, from before April 25 to his role in founding the then Popular Democratic Party (PPD) and consolidating the democratic regime.
Among the materials on display are manuscripts, correspondence, meeting notes, personal diaries, posters, drawings, objects and flags. One of the central sections is the collection kept by his personal secretary, Conceição Monteiro, which has now been revealed to the public for the first time.
José Pacheco Pereira stresses that this collection of documents "changes the history of Portugal". According to the curator, "a large part of this collection was hidden" and reveals "little-known aspects of Portuguese political history".
The exhibition was previously shown in Porto, where it received more than 20,000 visitors. In Lisbon, it can be visited from Tuesday to Friday, from 2pm to 6pm, and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, from 10am to 6pm.
