Interpretive panels highlight the biodiversity of Carnide Park
Spread over the park's 17 hectares: in the places called Olival, Lago, Regato, Prato and Pinha, the panels aim to raise awareness and educate the population about biodiversity, ecosystems and environmental services in the park.
The initiative aims to "strengthen the link between visitors and nature, encouraging the discovery and appreciation of natural resources". The panels also show the specific adaptations of each species, revealing how this urban green space remains a "dynamic natural refuge".
The equipment, made from recycled plastic and wood, ensures "coherence with the concept and natural identity of the space, reinforcing the park's commitment to sustainable practices and environmental preservation".
The Parque Verde de Carnide, with around 17.5 hectares reclaimed from previously abandoned land, was conceived as a leisure and urban re-naturalization space, with thousands of native trees and shrubs planted to reinforce biodiversity and improve the environmental quality of the north-western area of Lisbon.
