Lisboa Cuida + project shared as good municipal practice

The Lisbon City Council (CML) project, distinguished at national level in 2025, was presented at the meeting "Caring in the Community: the mobilizing role of local authorities", organized by the Instituto Padre António Vieira (IPAV).

The municipal initiative Lisboa Cuida +, developed in partnership with IPAV, was presented by Miguel Soares, from CML, at a panel on "innovative projects in Portugal", attended by representatives from the municipalities of Mafra, Maia and Viseu.

Lisboa Cuida + was distinguished in 2025 by the Network of Municipalities that Care for Informal Carers. As part of this initiative, several professionals from the municipality were trained and now have better tools to guide informal caregivers on their rights and the support available to them.

Recent national figures show that more than 18,000 people are informal caregivers, the majority of whom are women, and many of whom are "intensely overburdened", which underlines the importance of support and training policies for this group.
