Lisbon region approves integrated rural fire management program
The program, approved in April 2024 after a public consultation, "is based on two years of collaborative work between the eighteen municipalities of the AML and around 20 other entities," says the AML.
Of the investment of around 318 million euros for the 2023-2030 period, more than 90% of the money "will be allocated to key projects (approximately 78% relates to fuel management, one of the key projects)".
The Monsanto Forest Park, which covers more than 1,000 hectares and is considered to be Lisbon's lung, is "a strategic regional resource and a fundamental regulator of air quality and climate in the city of Lisbon and neighboring municipalities, with high landscape value and a huge space for recreation and leisure for the metropolitan population," the PSA stresses.
The document adds that the AML is one of the regions with the greatest diversity of natural landscapes and unique historical heritage in Europe and the world.
The PSA can be consulted on the AML website, or at its headquarters, every working day from 10:00 to 12:00 and 14:30 to 16:30.
