"Morar Melhor" rehabilitates three more municipal neighborhoods
In the north, the Avenida de Berlim neighborhood, in Olivais, will receive rehabilitation work on six plots, corresponding to 87 units, for an investment of more than one million euros. The work will be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
In Beato, Bairro dos Ourives will benefit from an investment of around 1,159,941 euros, in a five-lot project that is also expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
A year after the start of the intervention in Bairro da Boavista, in Benfica, Gebalis is now moving ahead with a new rehabilitation operation, with a budget of 2.5 million euros. By the second quarter of 2025, the work will have upgraded 14 plots, affecting 168 homes.
All the work, says Gebalis, will improve the thermal conditions of the buildings, safety, living conditions and the conservation time of the plots. To this end, work will be carried out on the roofs and eaves, doors, façades of the plots, window frames, as well as upgrading common interior and exterior spaces.
The start of the work, says Fernando Angleu, president of the municipal company, "once again materializes the commitment Gebalis has made to Lisbon City Council and, above all, to the residents of the municipal neighbourhoods, in order to increase housing comfort and improve their quality of life".
Considered the largest investment in municipal housing since the Special Rehousing Program (PER), the "Morar Melhor" program includes major interventions in 478 buildings, affecting 8,614 units, and the direct rehabilitation of 1,545 homes.
The next projects, which should begin during the summer, will take place in Bairro Casalinho da Ajuda, Bairro Alta de Lisboa - PER 3, Bairro Alta de Lisboa - PER 4, Bairro Alto da Faia, Bairro Padre Cruz and Bairro Carlos Botelho.
