Municipality defines support for School Social Action for 2024/2025

The measures approved unanimously by the Lisbon City Council today reinforce the criteria defined by the Ministry of Education, with the highlight being the equalization of benefits for children in the 2nd family allowance bracket corresponding to bracket B, who will now enjoy the same support as children/students in bracket A.

In the proposal, the following support is maintained:

  • support for school materials (€20.00/year/student) and study visits (€20.00/year/student) for 1st cycle students in ASE and NSE classes A, B and NSE;
  • support (€24.00/year/student) for NSE 1st Cycle students in Support Technologies;
  • support for pre-school children and primary and secondary school students, guaranteeing free meals (breakfast, lunch and snack) for children/students in the ASE and NSE A and B brackets;
  • provision of school meals, "Há gosto - school meals in August", for the 2024/2025 school year and a 50% reduction in the amount to be paid for school meals for all children who are not included in the ASE A and B brackets, i.e. students with learning and inclusion support measures, enrolled in the public kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle and secondary school network;
  • a 50% reduction in the amount to be paid for school meals for all children not included in the ASE A and B brackets, enrolled in the public kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle networks, in the 2023/24 school year;
  • support for school milk for pre-school children and students in the 1st cycle of basic education;
  • support granted in the area of school transport (NSE students and those attending an educational establishment more than 3 km away), extending the age limit to 20 years old inclusive, for NSE students who have not completed compulsory schooling by the age of 18, given the difficulties inherent in their condition;
  • support for wear and tear material (€25.00/year/child) granted to pre-school children in ASE and NSE classes A and B; CML transfers the money to the AEs who will manage it, defining the procedures to ensure that this support is made available to the beneficiary children;
  • full reimbursement of the value of textbook support sheets for students in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles of basic education;
  • €200.00/year to be allocated per CAA for the purchase of general wear and tear materials;
  • €250.00/year/student in AACs with additional measures for the purchase of specific materials for individual use, when other materials are not pedagogically suitable;
  • support for students in the 10th year of schooling to purchase a calculating machine for use in national secondary school exams with a maximum value of €100 per student (according to the Ministry of Education's list of calculating machines that can be used in the National Final Exams for Physics and Chemistry A, Mathematics A, Mathematics B and Mathematics Applied to the Social Sciences);
  • other support for school transport (adapted school transport; home/school transport; free municipal transport for CML programs: School Passport; Swimming and Living Science School);
  • organization and implementation of the Full-Time School, through the development of Curricular Enrichment Activities (AEC), Family Support Activities (AAAF) and Family Support Component (CAF).
