Red Bull Flugtag returns to Lisbon and gathers 20,000 people at Doca da Marinha

Lisbon hosted the Red Bull Flugtag, which returned to the capital 10 years later. The event brought together 36 teams from all over the country who performed the most creative flights on the River Tagus. In the end, the Diaper Droppers, from Caldas da Rainha, shared the podium with Os Rolhas, from Arruda dos Vinhos, who came 2nd, and Capas Negras, from Pombal, who came 3rd

The competition, without the use of engines, tested the teams on the criteria of performance and flight distance, providing impressive moments with flights over the Tagus River.

In the morning, the public had the opportunity to visit the hangar and get to know the art and ingenuity of the participants.

The panel of judges, made up of Pedro Boucherie Mendes, Constanza Ariza, Gonçalo Braga, Inês Nogueira, Miguel Paraíso, Fernando Alvim, Ana Pinheiro, Luís Lickfold and Vanessa Marina, was also present to assess the creativity of the flying machines.

In the words of the sports councillor, Ângelo Pereira, "this is an event of great creativity, physical activity and promotion of our city of Lisbon worldwide. "

The Red Bull Flugtag was born in Austria in 1992. It has toured all five continents and made its first landing in Portugal in 2002, with replicas in 2006 and 2014.

The event was supported by Lisbon City Council and Turismo de Lisboa.
