Streetcars and classic Carris buses paraded through Lisbon

Several historic models returned to the city's streets today, September 21, to celebrate 152 years of Carris. Streetcars and old buses paraded between Santo Amaro Station and Algés.

The initiative took us back to the beginning of the 20th century and allowed us to travel in vehicles such as the 535 streetcar, "one of the first streetcars built by the Carris workshops", or get to know the 802, which "was in service in the city of Lisbon when streetcars were the public transport of choice", according to information from Carris.

Highlights included the 741 streetcar, known as the "crate", created in 1947, and other themed streetcars with national elements and techniques such as cork, Arraiolos tapestry and Madeira embroidery.

The parade also featured Bus no. 1001, from 1975, a classic "orange" and other models that have already been withdrawn from circulation but are preserved in the Carris Museum.
