Tender for affordable youth rent in historic neighborhoods approved
The measure, which was unanimously approved today, is "a very important step towards returning the historic neighborhoods" to young people. "We want them to be able to realize their dream of living in the center, with affordable rents that are within their reach, thus keeping Lisbon's soul alive for generations to come," says the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas.
The homes in the competition are located in the parishes of Misericórdia, Campo de Ourique, Estrela, Campolide, São Vicente and Santa Maria Maior, and are currently being rehabilitated as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, which is expected to be completed by June 2026.
For the fringe of the population who can't find alternative housing on the private market, or through the municipality's housing programs - because they don't meet the minimum access values or don't have enough points - the fourth extraordinary Affordable Rent competition was also approved, which sets a lower minimum and maximum income limit than those established in the normal Affordable Rent Program.
In addition to these, the municipality will soon be launching a new normal affordable rent competition, open to all, with around 100 homes being made available. All the information will soon be available on the municipal agenda.
