Tourist tax on cruises from today
The two-euro TCVM applies to passengers over the age of 13 who disembark from cruise ships in transit at Lisbon terminals.
The levy is "a necessary measure, because the city needs to invest more in areas that are fundamental to its proper functioning, such as urban hygiene. This amount that we're going to charge each passenger has a small impact on their wallet, but for the city it means an annual income of more than one million euros," says the Mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas.
With the tourist tax by sea, equal treatment is adopted between all tourists who visit us, and who pay a tax in Lisbon's hotels and accommodation.
The measure is expected to generate annual revenue of 1.2 million euros and could represent 0.3% of the city's total tourist tax revenue.
