Unicorn Factory in the top 30 European startup hubs

Unicorn Factory Lisboa is the highest ranked Portuguese hub in the ranking of Europe's Leading Start-up Hubs 2026, published by the Financial Times. The Lisbon hub ranks 24th out of 180, from 25 countries, and is the only Portuguese hub in the top 30.

Lisbon is the region with the highest representation, with seven hubs ranked. At national level, 12 hubs are among the best in Europe, eight of which are in the top 100.

At European level, the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain are the countries with the highest number of hubs represented in this edition.

The Unicorn Factory is an initiative of Lisbon City Council (CML), which supports entrepreneurs from the initial creation phase to international expansion, providing incubation and acceleration programs, connections to mentor and investor networks and thematic hubs such as AIhub, greenhub and healthhub, focused on sectors such as artificial intelligence, sustainability and health.

Through this involvement, CML consolidates the maturity of an ecosystem that, since 2016, has been affirming Lisbon as a platform for talent, creativity and technology, positioning the city as one of the main innovation centers in Europe.
