World ranking of resilient cities: Lisbon climbs 97 places

In the last two years, Lisbon has risen from 213th to 116th place in the Resilient Cities Index. This evolution, explains Savills, "is the result of a combination of several factors: greater real estate investment, especially in cross-border capital, an improvement in the position of universities in international rankings , GDP growth and a positive migratory dynamic".

The Portuguese capital is thus consolidating its position as one of the "most attractive" European destinations for international investment, following the "upward trend" of southern European cities like Madrid and Barcelona, which benefit from "tourism at historic highs and a higher value-added services economy".

With the top three places occupied by New York, Tokyo and London, Savills points out, however, that Lisbon is one of the cities that has adapted most quickly to technological and environmental changes, becoming a "safe haven for investors looking for resilience and stability of talent". The Portuguese capital, they say, "is not just a tourist destination, but a market where investment has a high probability of security and future appreciation".

For Rita Bueri, from Savills Portugal, quoted by Jornal Económico, Lisbon has been strengthened "as one of the most attractive destinations in Europe, linking real estate success to the dynamics of tourism and consistent modernization". The positioning of the Portuguese capital, she adds, "reflects a change in global priorities, where true luxury has become quality of life, safety and proximity to nature".
