Lisbon in the Modern Era: Everyday Arts and Crafts

A journey that crosses history, arts and traditional knowledge

Throughout the Modern Period, the city of Lisbon was the scene of profound political, economic, cultural and religious transformations that shaped its society and the daily lives of its inhabitants. This exhibition invites you to discover aspects of daily life in Lisbon between the 16th and early 19th centuries, with a focus on the professions and trades that set the pace of the city. Through historical, cartographic and iconographic documentation, as well as objects from various archaeological contexts, the exhibition paints a vivid picture of the social, economic and cultural transformations that took place in the capital during the Modern Period.
