City Hall will deliver 2,000 keys in three years

This afternoon, 28 keys were handed over as part of the municipal programs for access to housing in Lisbon, and key number 2,000 was handed over. In addition to the houses that have been built and rehabilitated, the municipality has also helped "around 1,000 families to pay their rent".

"With the handing over of these keys, we are managing to decisively change the lives of so many families," said Carlos Moedas, the Mayor of Lisbon (CML), at the ceremony in the Paços do Concelho, attended by the Councillor for Housing, Filipa Roseta.

The goal of two thousand keys in the last three years is "therefore so significant", he stressed, pointing out that "housing has been and will continue to be" a priority, with "all the effort and commitment on the part of the CML".

The investment with Europe, of around "560 million euros", makes Lisbon "not only the largest city council in Portugal, but also in Europe" with an investment of this nature in housing, the mayor stressed.

The homes allocated during this period are part of various municipal rental programs: affordable rent, supported rent and municipal subsidy for supported rent.
