Municipal space given to Carnide community association
According to the proposal signed by Councillor Filipa Roseta and approved on July 31 at the town hall meeting, this "non-profit organization with responsibilities in the field of intervention and citizenship" will benefit from a 95% discount on the monthly amount to be paid for "occupying this municipal space in a building owned by the municipality".
With "more than 200 registered members", the Carnide association "Amigos da Luz" intends to expand its current facilities in Bairro Padre Cruz, in order to "include more children and young people in school support, combating school failure and absenteeism".
Its sports project includes the Futsal academy, with seven levels and 100 athletes federated in the Lisbon Football Association championships. They also develop various activities, such as zumba, hiking, and are part of the Safety Group and the Community Group of the Padre Cruz neighborhood.
As part of the municipal strategy for Local Development, Lisbon recently approved the draft "Regulation for the Allocation and Management of Non-Housing Spaces in Lisbon's Municipal Neighborhoods". The proposal, approved on July 19, aims to speed up, simplify and streamline tenders and allocations for the municipality's more than 1,000 non-housing spaces.
