Municipality supports Lisbon Association for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
The Municipality of Lisbon "has an interest in guaranteeing the implementation of a series of initiatives, events and programs to support entrepreneurship and business acceleration", and AIEL is "the organization with the best conditions to do so", says the document signed by Councillor Joana Oliveira Costa.
In the proposal approved at the town hall meeting on July 19, the municipality points out that AIEL has received more than 6,350 applications for incubation and has supported more than 750 startups from 52 countries, raising more than 635 million euros. Since its creation, the collaboration with the Municipality of Lisbon has generated "a strong impact on the city's economy and innovation, the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the attraction of talent" and the recognition of the city as a "hub for entrepreneurship and innovation".
AIEL is a private non-profit association founded by the Municipality of Lisbon, Montepio Geral and IAPMEI. It ensures the operationalization of the Beato Creative Hub, in conjunction with municipal services, and in 2022, in conjunction with CML, launched the "Unicorn Factory Lisboa".
