Residents of Alvalade and Marvila heard at decentralized meeting
Today, during the decentralized public meeting, Carlos Moedas defended the right to sell municipal housing, for "those who have lived in a municipal neighbourhood, in a council house for years, and should have the ability to buy it. It was a right they should have".
The mayor of Lisbon (CML), in response to a request from a resident of Bairro das Salgadas, said that the municipality's aim was "to set up a program of sales to people who want to buy their homes". All tenants who are interested in buying the houses where they live "can make this expression of interest" to CML, said Housing Councillor Vasco Moreira Rato.
Due to work on a building adjacent to Casa do Concelho de Castro Daire, the institution's headquarters needs "urgent work", a representative of the board of directors revealed today. The problems, which affect the structure of the building and the comfort and safety of users, will be "taken care of" by the local authority, assured the Councillor for Culture, Diogo Moura: "There is no responsibility that should be directed to the Casa do Concelho de Castro Daire".
CML will "reinforce its presence and supervision" throughout the municipality, in the area of Urban Hygiene. The guarantee comes from Joana Baptista, the Councillor for Urban Hygiene, who left a reminder and an appeal to the city's residents: "feeding pigeons causes enormous insalubrity and a complicated public health situation. Be vigilant and make older people aware that they shouldn't do this".
Joana Portugal, president of the Parents' Association of the Almirante Gago Coutinho Primary School in Alvalade, warned of the need to upgrade the school and improve public transport.
After the improvement works in 2023, with the removal of asbestos, among other repairs, a "priority and urgent works contract" will be launched, namely for repairs to the roof, in order to solve the problem of infiltration. The design competition will be launched in April 2026, and the execution project will begin in October, said Rodrigo Mello Gonçalves, the Councillor for Education. For his part, CML's vice-president and councillor for Mobility, Gonçalo Reis, said that Carris will be given guidelines to adapt the route of Carreira de Bairro 46B to serve the school.
With regard to Mobility, one of the themes that cuts across most of the interventions, Councillor Gonçalo Reis highlighted the intervention in Marvila that foresees the installation of "four more stations in the next two to three years". EMEL is already identifying 10 possible locations for Gira bicycle docks, namely next to ISEL and schools in the parish, he added, making it possible to triple the number of stations for the shared bicycle service.
In accordance with the decentralized meetings model, the meeting ended with interventions from the chairmen of the Marvila and Alvalade parish councils, Joaquim Brito and Tomás Gonçalves, as well as councillors from all the political forces in the executive.
