School transportation provided for kindergartens and primary and secondary schools

On July 12, Lisbon City Council approved the renewal of the contract for school transport for kindergarten children and primary and secondary school students in the city's public network.

The renewed contract, worth over four million euros, provides for school transport for kindergarten children and primary and secondary school students in Lisbon's public network - school year 2023/2024, with the possibility of renewal in 2024/2025 and 2025/2026.

The proposal takes into account the evaluation of the 2023/2024 school year, by the municipal services, namely the "O Amarelo" school transport pilot project, in schools covered by the home-school-home strand, with "embryonic results", not ensuring a response to other strands of school transport such as support for the School Passport Program, Swimming Program, Ciência Viva School or transport for swimming lessons.

"O Amarelo" is a school mobility pilot project promoted by the municipality and CARRIS, with the support of the parish councils, encouraging the use of buses for journeys to school, in order to reverse the trend of using individual transport.
