St. Patrick's Day celebrated in Lisbon with 600 bagpipes

This Saturday, March 21, Avenida da Liberdade hosted a parade as part of the St. Patrick's Day celebrations, which brought together around 600 musicians and 13 bagpipe bands. The initiative brought the music, entertainment and tradition associated with Irish culture to the heart of the city.

Lisbon celebrated St. Patrick's Day with a three-day program that brought music, street entertainment and gastronomy to the city center. The most striking moment of the celebrations took place today, with a parade on Avenida da Liberdade that brought together around 600 musicians in 13 bagpipe bands.

Under the motto "À Grande and À Irlandesa", the initiative gave expression to the festive atmosphere associated with this celebration, to the sound of Celtic music and a strong entertainment component. Nine Portuguese and four Spanish bands took part in the parade. The parade started at Praça da Alegria, went along Avenida da Liberdade and through downtown Lisbon, where the festivities continued.

The celebrations began on Friday, with entertainment and gastronomic proposals, and will continue until Sunday, with activities for families and street shows. The initiative once again marked an international celebration that has been gaining ground in the city's programming, affirming Avenida da Liberdade as a stage for meetings, festivities and cultural diversity.

Celebrated on March 17, St. Patrick's Day is one of the most emblematic dates of Irish culture, marked all over the world with music, parades and the traditional color green.
