Waste collection in Lisbon increases in the first half of the year
In the first half of this year, Lisbon's Urban Hygiene teams collected more than 3,000 tons of bulky waste in around 40,000 actions. The increase is a reflection of the growth in the collection of various types of waste.
Garden waste (logs) increased significantly by 50.1%, corresponding to 878.7 t more. Used cooking oil also showed a significant growth of 37.8%, with an increase of 0.7 t.
Packaging grew by 7.1%, with 620 t more collected. The collection of organic waste rose by 4.2% to 576.3 tons, while the collection of paper increased by 1.7%, or 206.6 tons more.
This continuous effort by the municipal services reinforces the importance of Lisboners collaborating to keep the city clean and organized.
