City council approves Carlos Moedas' powers
The proposal to delegate the powers of Lisbon City Council to its president, Carlos Moedas, approved today in a private meeting, aims to "speed up and reduce bureaucracy" in the decisions of the municipal executive.
The meeting also unanimously approved a proposal to set the number of "full-time" councillors at seven. It is up to the city council to define the number of "permanent" councillors, which is higher than the number that, under the terms of law no. 169/99, the president can establish, in order to guarantee the "proper functioning" of this body.
