Undetectable Viral Load
Viral load is the measurement of the amount of HIV present in a person's blood. It is the main indicator of treatment effectiveness.
When a person with HIV is on effective treatment, the amount of HIV is significantly reduced, to the point where it cannot be detected in a blood test. This is called an undetectable viral load.
When the viral load is undetectable, HIV is no longer transmitted during sexual intercourse, even when a condom is not used.
