The 2nd section, between Praça do Chile and Praça Francisco de Sá Carneiro, has a profile with two variants:
variant 2A, from Praça do Chile to Alameda, with 3 lanes and a bidirectional segregated lane on the east sidewalk.
variant 2B, from Alameda to Praça Francisco de Sá Carneiro, with 4 lanes and a bidirectional segregated cycle lane, also on the east sidewalk.
Maintaining the 4 lanes on this last stretch was essential given the traffic volumes between Alameda and Areeiro, as expressed in the Mobility Study carried out in 2023.
With the implementation of the cycle path on Variant 2B, the proposal offers a continuous cycle path from Martim Moniz to Praça Francisco de Sá Carneiro (Praça do Areeiro).
A new tree line will accompany the cycle path and pedestrian walkway on the east side of both bypasses.
